Of all the arts and crafts, ceramics is certainly one of those which values very highly the raw material which it employs: once worked, the unformed lump of clay acquires a price immeasurably greater than its actual value, becoming expression of the personality who has worked it.

Best heat diffusion.

Covering a naked heating element with the shapes and colours of majolica guarantees not only an appreciable aesthetic aspect, it ensures correct heat diffusion. Majolica creates a genuine “thermal flywheel”: it gathers the heat radiated by the fire and transmits it in a constant and uniform way. The larger and more uniform the heat-radiating surfaces are, the better their capacity to diffuse a pleasant and uniform heat into the atmosphere.

Unique quality and dimensions.

Piazzetta ceramic surrounds require a complex finishing process in order to find that delicate balance capable of containing mechanical and thermal tensions, of resisting heat and heat surges, of being a good thermal conductor, and of being capable of being formed into large surfaces of a particular shape. Hairline cracks, dotting and shadowing are phenomena which distinguish hand-crafted majolica products and which make each single piece a unique example.
